Montblanc 1858 Cylindrical Tourbillon Geosphere Minerva Around The World In 80 Days – Limited Edition 3 pieces
£ 271,500.00
The Montblanc 1858 Cylindrical Tourbillon Geosphere Around the World in 80 Days Limited Edition is an adventure itself. The story begins in 1872 with Jules Verne and his famous novel Around the World in 80 Days, a tale woven with intrigue and adventure. Just like Fogg and Passepartout, the 47 mm, Lime Gold 750/1000 (18 karats), timepiece also travels the globe in a race against the clock. Scenes on the mother-of-pearl dial trace our protagonists’ adventures from Calcutta to Yokohama via Singapore and Hong Kong that are depicted in great detail using a mix of miniature painting and hand engraving. This limited edition of 3 pieces is powered by the hand-wound, worldtime zone, calibre MB M68.40 with the local time displayed with blued steel hours and minutes hands inspired by 19th century pocket watches, and two globes – for the Northern and Southern Hemispheres – that indicated the world’s 24 time zones, along with the passage of the days/nights. Each timepiece comes in a presentation box inspired by the Jules Verne novel, handcrafted by Bellerby & Co. Globemakers in London. A globe illustrated with a 19th-century map is nestled on a walnut wood base with a drawer containing the watch.
